EDGE Tech Corp - Jeff Thompson

Jeff Thompson

President & CEO

Fourteen-year-old Jeff Thompson founded Peripheral Outlet, the predecessor to EDGE Tech Corp, in 1986. The company was funded by $2,500 Thompson saved from his Ada, Oklahoma newspaper route, and began in the basement of his home. Because of his business success at such a young age, Thompson and the company received a large amount of media attention. Thompson bought and sold used computer equipment, relying primarily on The Dallas Morning News classified ads to generate business.

Early on, Thompson realized the opportunities in computer memory enhancements, and this was the company's sole focus by 1989. When he entered the University of Oklahoma in 1990, Thompson managed Peripheral remotely from his room in the Kappa Alpha fraternity house. In 1992, Thompson was one of three Oklahomans invited to attend to President-Elect Bill Clinton's Economic Development Conference.

The company experienced explosive growth during Thompson's college years. He balanced his focus between work and school, and graduated with a B.S. Finance degree with honors in 1994. That same year, Thompson was named America's Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The next year Peripheral was honored by being named to the Inc. 500 list of America's fastest growing private companies.

The company's name changed to Peripheral Enhancements Corporation in 1996, and to EDGE Tech Corp in 2004, taking advantage of the company's strong product brand name, EDGE.

Thompson's more than 20 years of experience allow him the vision to guide the company into the future. He continues to direct EDGE's daily operations, and works from the company's Dallas office. EDGE Tech Corp's product line consists of memory upgrades, digital media, portable drives, digital music players, and accessories.
