Frequently Asked Questions

EDGE Single Slot Digital Card Reader

1) Are there any special handling instructions I need to follow when I use my cards in the reader?
Never remove a card without stopping the device by using the appropriate safe removal procedure for your operating system. Do not connect the reader to the computer with a card inserted; this can cause power-related data corruption on the card.

2) My USB reader is no longer detecting cards when I insert them. How can I fix it?
a. If you have installed any new hardware or software, uninstall the software or hardware drivers. If that solves the problem, reinstall anything you uninstalled, then reinstall the drivers for the reader. b. Check to see if the card is still working in other devices. If the card is not working, contact us for a replacement. If the card is working, try connecting the reader directly to the computer instead of using the extension cable. If that doesn't work, contact us for further assistance.

3) Do you have drivers for Windows NT 4.0?
Unfortunately, Microsoft does not support USB mass storage devices in NT 4.0. There are some third party mass storage device drivers available on the Internet, but we do not support them or the use of any USB reader in a NT 4.0 environment.

4) I have recently updated my Macintosh to OS X. Do I need to download new drivers?
No. Mac OS X should automatically detect your reader and card and access the reader properly.

5) If your reader does not recognize cards or is not recognized by the computer:
MacOS 9.x, Windows 98SE, and Windows ME users need to install the driver before connecting the device.

If you are not on a network, check to see if you have other USB storage devices connected. Some devices use drivers that the reader needs in order to work on your computer. Disconnect any other USB storage devices and try again.

If you are using a USB hub to connect the reader, try moving it to the last port (they are usually numbered). You can also try plugging it directly into your computer using the extension cable.

If you continue to have problems, contact us.
